Today I just want to talk about one of my favorite styling products, which I use at home on myself, and every single day in the salon on every single person whose hair I flat iron or curl. It’s a relatively new product from Paul Mitchell called Hot Off The Press.
Hot Off The Press is an amazing thermal protection spray. It’s aerosol, so it mists on weightlessly and dries instantaneously, which is super important because you want your hair to be 100% dry before touching an iron to it! It has a flexible hold, so it helps keep down fly-aways without making your hair stiff or crunchy. It also helps make hair more humidity resistant, which we LOVE here in Seattle! One of my clients told me that she uses this amazingly versatile product as her daily hairspray. It feels nice, smells nice, makes your hair look fabulous and shiny, and I just love it!

Remember, when you are buying professional products, buy them from a PROFESSIONAL. Many professional brands, such as Paul Mitchell, ONLY sell their products to salons and licensed hair stylists. You might see some PM products at the grocery store or chain store, but those are all black market. They could be expired, contaminated with bacteria, or it might contain something completely different from what it says on the bottle (water? dish soap? Pantene? who knows!) I recently bought this product and have to agree that it is the best thermal protective, shiny smell good, all around amazing spray. I wash my hair roughly every 4 days and when I do, I wash, condition, blow dry and straighten. This product helps maintain straight and tamed hair for days, even if I have to do some flat iron touch ups. Nice choice Kelsi.
yeah, i usually just have to touch up my ends. it stays nice and flexible too, no crunchiness, love it :)
I had never used this product before until I tried yours last week at your house. I love it.
I have to be honest: I NEVER USE THERMAL PROTECTION BEFORE I FLATTEN, BLOWDRY OR CURL and for that, I apologize. Here are my reasons: I never like the way a product made my hair feel. Usually sticky and crappy. Sometimes it would make blowdrying more difficult because it just added more moisture to the situation. Now I know HOTP is for irons and tools and not blowdrys, but even with an iron, I would just hop to it and press my hair nakie.
HOTP was great. It did dry quickly so I didn’t scorch my hair and it left my hair a bit more shiny and famazing (more then usual ha!) so yes, I agree, an awesome product all around.
Tsk Tsk, not using anything before you fry your hair! Haha, but I feel you, a lot of products do feel gross, sticky, crunchy, whatever. That’s why I love this one, it’s totally weightless!

I love Paul Mitchell products! we use a lot at the salon where I work but are not yet carrying this. I know what I am asking about tomorrow at work!!

I’ve used this product after every wash for the past 4 months. I have blonde hair which used to snap (probably as a result of straightening). Since using Hot Off The Press, my hair has grown significantly faster and the ends are definitely not as damaged as they normally would be. So glad i found this product!
